Rosemary Burd, Heather Talbot, and Marisa Myrah present a collaborative dialogue between their practices in Renderings, inspired by their walks in West Coast forests. Shifting between micro and macro perspectives, their works invite close reflection on intricate ecosystems and our relationships to them. Together, Marisa Myrah’s oil and watercolour paintings, Heather Talbot’s photorealistic needle-felted pieces, and Rosemary Burd’s embroidered photographs reflect a shared attentiveness towards the fragility of these spaces.

Rosemary Burd
Rosemary Burd had been making her shaky photos for years when a call for art prompted her to combine that practice with the simple running stitch she was using in her Japanese sashiko embroidery. This experimentation led to her participation in Contact Photography Festival Virtual Exhibition, Altered Images by Hand, at Toronto’s Propeller Gallery in 2021. Since then Rosemary’s photo-based work has been exhibited in numerous group shows in BC, at the Exposure Photography Festival in Calgary, AB, and at The Glasgow Gallery of Photography, UK. Her solo show, Radiance, was recently held at The Old School House Arts Centre in Qualicum Beach (summer 2026). Rosemary is self-taught in both photography and embroidery.
