I picked up some knitting needles on a whim in the fall of 2014, and immediately I was hooked. I haven't put them down since! While I started with scarves and toques, I slowly graduated to knitting socks, sweaters, and even dresses. Every project left me with some extra yarn -- not enough to make another shirt, sweater, or toque with. This leftover yarn has been accumulating in my craft closet over the years and is starting to threaten to spill out. So I decided to make scrunchies with it! My scrunchies are all handmade and one of a kind.

Yasuo Araki is a Japanese born artist currently based in Port Moody, British Columbia. He immigrated to Vancouver at the age of 29 to pursue life as an artist. His early experiences during wartime have profoundly influenced his outlook, shaping a practice grounded in gratitude, reflection and a commitment to contributing positively to society through art. Yasuo works primarily with acrylic paint and Japanese gold leaf, blending contemporary materials with traditional Japanese influence. His work often draws from nature and lived experience, exploring themes of resilience, harmony and emotional depth.

I create a number of my own designs, often from customer requests. I am able to import papers from around the world and enjoy creating unique, one-of-a-kind cards and framed art.

Mahnaz Asadi is a ceramic artist and pottery instructor based in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Originally from Iran, she brings together her appreciation for nature, cultural heritage, and functional design to create handcrafted ceramic pieces that celebrate everyday beauty. With a background in design and years of experience teaching pottery, she enjoys sharing the creative process while continually exploring new techniques in handbuilding and wheel throwing. Her work often features organic forms, botanical inspiration, and thoughtfully crafted details that invite connection and use. She believes handmade objects have the power to tell stories, foster creativity, and bring warmth into life.

Patricia enjoys learning about traditional arts crafts from all cultures and seeing the connections in styles and mediums that exist in the arts between cultures. She is interested in how crafts that at one time were essential to daily life have evolved to be cherished ornamental or decorative objects. The details found in nature are often used to create patterns in particular plants and trees. Patricia enjoys painting, photography, metal clay and fibre arts and will often transfer the lesson learned from one discipline to another to create focus, balance and eclectic presentation in another project.

My name is Allison, and I’m a Metis beadwork artist! I originally found my craft through my work as an Indigenous Youth Worker with SD43 and take pride in teaching youth to embrace their culture and to share it with others!

I am influenced by my practical nature, and therefore the majority of my work has always been functional and wheel film when I do stray from the purely functional, my sculpture pieces are generally a combination of wheel thrown and hand will work my garden local surroundings provide me both with an inspiration and a gallery for some of my work.

Victoria Carpenter is a fused glass artist based in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Inspired by the interplay of colour, light, and nature, she creates kiln-formed glass that celebrates both beauty and craftsmanship. For more than fifteen years, she has studied with leading glass artists throughout North America while developing her own distinctive artistic style. Her work explores colour, texture, and form, creating pieces that capture and transform light in unexpected ways. Victoria teaches fused glass from her home studio, sharing her passion for the medium while continually experimenting with new techniques and creating original works for galleries, exhibitions, and private collections.

Yolanda’s major area of study in university was 3-dimensional design. Originally from Hong Kong, Yolanda has embraced her home country’s paper cutting and folding tradition and brings her 3-D experience into her 2-dimensional creations. Her art requires intense concentration and attention to detail. Yolanda makes a variety of pieces ranging from framed works, to greeting and fabric cards, and other decorations.

Ysabella is a professional ceramic artist and graphic designer with nearly 40 years of experience in the visual arts. Her multidisciplinary practice combines ceramics and graphic design, exploring pattern, abstraction, colour, texture, and composition. Drawing on her graphic design background, she transforms abstract shapes, lines, and patterns into distinctive three-dimensional ceramic artworks. Her work explores the relationship between form and surface, balancing craftsmanship with creative experimentation. Alongside her studio practice, she is actively involved in ceramics education and community arts, sharing her experience and encouraging creativity, experimentation, and individual expression.

Alex Wang-Chung is a Canadian artist based in Burnaby, BC on the unceded and ancestral lands of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples, the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. He works primarily in ceramics, and has a BFA at Emily Carr University of Art & Design (2026). His work focuses on representing urban and domestic spaces and their relationship to people and animals, as well as identity through vessel and sculptural wheel thrown forms.

Janet Comer is an interdisciplinary artist, arts instructor, and arts administrator. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Visual Art from the University of the Fraser Valley. Janet has exhibited works throughout the Lower Mainland and the Interior of BC. She currently lives and works on the traditional and unceded territories of the Katzie and Kwantlen First Nations.

I am a mother of grown children living in Mission with my husband and pet dog, Texas. I have enjoyed knitting and crocheting for the last ten years. I annually donate to a local non-profit SARA for Women by selling my finished items or donating them. All my baby and child accessories or blankets are unique and are of my own design.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by wood. I discovered woodturning over 25 years ago, and it quickly became my passion. Using traditional techniques with a contemporary approach, I create handcrafted pieces that are both functional and beautiful. Every item reflects the natural character of the wood and the timeless craft of turning. I source all my timber locally from legally harvested trees, ensuring each piece is made with respect for both the material and the environment.

Originally from West Vancouver, Tara Devine is a visual artist currently based in Port Moody, BC. Since 2020, she has participated in juried group exhibitions and other artistic endeavors with local galleries and arts councils in Vancouver’s Lower Mainland. Tara draws inspiration from her family and her natural coastal surroundings. Many of her works use natural elements, colors, and textures; however, she enjoys the creative freedom of experimenting with materials, ideas, and themes. Tara enjoys celebrating and decorating for the holidays and has created a series of playful artworks in a variety of mediums.

Pressure and heat are key to release the minerals from botanical material like plants and flowers so they will print on paper. Each plant contains different minerals and chemicals that vary in strength at different times of the year. The minerals are deposited on the surface and create an impression through heat, moisture, pressure, and time. Her cards are digital copies of the original, printed on archival paper. Dorothy works in a wide range of artistic media, including acrylics, oils, and watercolour. The Blackberry Gift Shop features a selection of her landscapes, which range from realism to experimental images inspired by imagination, human emotion and our response to place.

Cindy Fang, who also goes by "cinchiko," is an illustrator based in Vancouver, Canada. Through finding wonder in everyday life, her work captures subtle moments of the human experience, weaving in between dreams, memories, and reality. Currently, she is focused on creating illustrations for picture books for children and youth.

Faina Sichon is a fibre artist and creator of FELTRO, based in Mission, BC. Trained in theatre arts at GITIS in Moscow, where she graduated with honours, she brings a strong sense of composition, colour, movement, and form to her textile work. For more than 15 years, she has been creating fibre art using wet-felting techniques, including wearable art, accessories, jewellery, and wall pieces from wool and silk. Her work combines traditional hand-felting techniques with a contemporary, sculptural approach and has been presented at arts festivals, juried exhibitions, and maker markets across British Columbia.

Violet’s kiln-formed glass is clean and contemporary. Her attention to detail and finish and her love of colour, pattern and texture reveal themselves in distinctly unique, functional and sculptural pieces, equally elegant for the office and home. She also creates unique, handmade, sterling silver and glass jewelry.

Katina Giesbrecht is a local artist and graphic designer. She creates semi-realistic landscapes and florals inspired by the beauty of the west coast of Canada, to bring peace and calm in this crazy world. Her artwork blends realism and abstraction to invite viewers into my imaginative world that will be a visual respite for them.

Luci’s passion for working with beads started at a young age. Learning how to incorporate the tiny, colourful beads in her designs has been her journey. She particularly likes 3-D weaving and geometric forms and designs. Luci’s interest in chainmail and wire weaving techniques came with time, and currently these three media forms create the basis for her unique, handmade jewellery.

Growing up in Port Moody, I’ve always had a passion and affinity for illustration and design. As a self-taught artist, I’ve found joy in working in many different creative mediums. My passion lies in creating art that evokes a sense of place and nostalgia, offering viewers a connection to familiar environments. Working in a digital format using the app Procreate to create my artworks, I take inspiration from the life around me, trying to capture moments and memories. Joanne Henderson of Mossom Creek Studio has been creating stunning, one of a kind, statement piece jewellery for several years. Each piece is work of art, incorporating sparkling crystals, precious and semi-precious gemstones, cool rocks, unique metals and settings. Born in England and attending a church school, spent hours studying the brilliantly coloured glass windows in the church. Following a few year in Malayasia soaking up the striking colours of that culture, came to Canada in 1970. Always loving crafts, discovered weaving as an outlet for my creativity. After classes from a well known weaver, have taken numerous workshops in Canada & the US. In the past sold my work in shops in Whistler, Calgary, Banff, Kelowna & Vancouver. Am a past member of the Blackberry Gift Shop.

Angela creates unique bags and purses, each one designed to be functional as well as fashionable. Her bags range from small credit card purses to large vacation totes, with fabrics chosen from the many designer fabrics in her studio or created from fabric which the customer provides.

Del creates unique art pieces using local and exotic woods from around the world. The toys, intarsia and Comfort Birds all created by hand, with love, in his local workshop for others to enjoy forever. Del’s motivation comes from the enjoyment others get from viewing and handling his creations. A giant smile brings endless joy to everyone.

Dilys has enjoyed doing art since a young age and studied urban planning in university. With her background and interest in planning, she is fascinated by the surrounding environment. Dilys’ ink and watercolour sketches tend to focus on buildings, cities, and the urban landscape. She draws much of her inspiration from what she sees and places she has been to or travelled to.

I enjoy how my ceramics connect people. I have had the privilege to hear stories about how my pieces become part of people’s daily lives or special events, whether bought as gifts or self indulgences. Growing up in Canada, surrounded by water, I have lived my entire life near the ocean. I am informed and re-energized by the intertidal edges between land and sea. My current work consists primarily of functional ware such as vases, cups, and bowls of various sizes. Created from white porcelaneous stoneware, each thrown piece is decorated using texture and cobalt inlay. The deep texturing allows shadow and light to play off each other for an additional level of interest on the interior and surface of the work. The Blue & White decoration is influenced by the aesthetic originating in the Middle East and Asia and further developed in Europe after the 17th century. Motifs commonly found on textiles and patterns from nature, be they geometric or organic, inform the decorative aspects of my work. The goal is to create pieces that can be appreciated for their form, colour and feel, and used every day at home.

Laurie carves cottonwood bark into fantasy houses, nightlights, 3-D ornaments and scenery In her home studio & Dogwood Centre woodshop in Coquitlam. Acrylics and pyrography are incorporated into individual pieces. Hand-carving of red, yellow cedar & basswood whimsical pieces can also be found in her creations. Laurie’s inspiration often comes from literary themes, nature, travelogues, architecture photography & the work of master carvers around the world.

Anita Bisset of Juliet925 makes jewellery from sustainable Canadian refined sterling silver and 100% recycled gold. She focuses on gemstones sourced as close to home as possible.

Olesia Kharlamova is a Ukrainian-born watercolour artist and instructor based in Port Moody, BC. Her work explores landscape, light, and nature's resilience — themes shaped by her experience of leaving Ukraine as war began. She also practises Petrykivka, a centuries-old Ukrainian decorative folk art recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, bringing its vibrant floral patterns and cultural warmth into her work. Olesia has exhibited at The Gallery at Hycroft and PoMoArts, and teaches art at PoMoArts, where she has mentored over 80 students.

I'm a Hong Kong-Canadian artist and FX animator based in beautiful British Columbia. I graduated with a diploma in 2D Animation from Vancouver Institute of Media Arts and have been working in the animation industry ever since! My personal artwork is whimsical, colourful and playful. They have been exhibited in local galleries such as One More Life, Slice of Life, ACT and Lake Country Art Gallery. My art is also featured in the city of Richmond: appearing on street banners, traffic cabinets, skytrain columns and a mural in Steveston.

Victoria Chin, also known as KiwiSproutArtz, is an artist based in Vancouver BC. Inspired by her research on flora and fauna, her art focuses on using charming illustrations to showcase the various aspects of ecology. Her practice consists of traditional media, such as watercolour, acrylic paint, print media, and bookmaking. She holds a BFA in Visual Arts at Emily Carr University with a focus in print media.

I fell in love with clay after taking an eight week pottery course at PoMo Arts. I create contemporary ceramics designed to spark joy in everyday life. Lise discovered her passion for fibre arts 25 years ago after taking a spinning and dyeing course at Place des Arts in Maillardville. Fascinated by weaving, she has continued to learn and experiment, creating unique handwoven pieces inspired by nature. Working primarily with silk, Lise blends traditional techniques with contemporary designs, always guided by her mentor’s advice to “have fun.”

I’ve loved painting since I was little, even though life took me into science. Art has always stayed with me, and after graduating, I picked up my paintbrush again. Moving to Vancouver and meeting encouraging friends gave me the confidence to finally share my work publicly. Acrylic is my medium of choice, and my work is inspired by my home country, personal memories, everyday experiences, and the natural world—a connection shaped by my background in ecology. I find joy in exploring new techniques and playing with colour, and I hope my art brings a little warmth and joy to others.

Melted Head is an art collective, but at its core we are a joining of souls. Run by married lesbians Erin and Al, we create art in unique mediums that speak to our love and life together. Erin is an amazing visual artist and block printer. She meticulously carves each stamp by hand and creates amazing pieces from thrifted treasures. Al's medium is crochet, mastering the art over the last few years including making her wedding dress. Nature is my muse. I paint in a primarily realistic style, in watercolours and acrylic. I have been fortunate to study with many excellent artists, including Robert Bateman and David McEowen. I am an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Port Moody Art Association.

Perching Clay Art is a collection of wearable and decorative polymer clay art meticulously handmade by Jessica Woo in Vancouver, B.C. Since 2015, Jessica is self-taught and has been honing her skills in Millefiori, Mokume Gane and sculpting. Without the use of paint or ink, designs are created by layering and manipulating stacks of different colour clay. Slices are taken from these rolls or stacks to reveal the design in the cross-sections. These slices are used to make pendants, bowls, etc. Inspired by the microscopic to giant natural and industrial world, Jessica's work is colourful, whimsical and intricate.

Miranda Savage is a Canadian painter born and raised on the west coast of British Columbia . Deeply inspired by her love of animals and nature, Miranda’s work celebrates the beauty, character, and wonder found in the landscapes and wildlife around her. From childhood, painting became a place for curiosity and creative freedom, a feeling she continues to bring into her work today. Miranda studied Fine Arts at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, graduating in 2019. Seema is a Textile and felt artist whose practise is deeply inspired by the elegance and resilience of the natural world. Her collection Jardin de fleurs (Garden of floers') trasforms fibres into blossoms, weaving stories of growth, beauty, and renewal through texture and form. Working with wool felt, natural fibers and hand dyed textiles, Seema embraces traditional craft techniques while infusing them with a contemporary sensibility .Each piece is shaped through a slow, tactile process-layering, felting and sculpting materials into forma that capture both the fragility and strength of flowers. Seema currently lives in Pitt Meadows BC.

Paul creates functional and decorative art using his fine art photography and a variety of media, such as wood, marble and textured surfaces. He endeavours to capture a special moment and share it with others in his Wall Art Panels, Marble and Wooden Coasters as well as Textured Wood Blocks.

Leah designs and creates hand-made, sterling silver jewellery in her home studio in Vancouver. Her work includes earrings, pendants, rings and cuffs, featuring a variety of texturing and surfacing techniques to add depth and visual interest to her pieces. Some of these techniques include rolling mill designs, acid-etching, and forging. She often incorporates top-grade semi-precious gemstones and pearls.

Marissa is a local resident of Port Moody and is the young artist who started her business She Sells Sea Shells. She collects oyster shells from the beaches on the Sunshine Coast with her family and turns them into beautiful decoupaged trinket dishes and ornaments. Every piece she creates is beautifully hand crafted with care and a one of a kind piece to treasure.

Lara Shecter is a Vancouver-based artist working in acrylic painting, mixed media, and resin. Her work explores the meeting points between industry and nature along the Pacific Northwest coast: cargo ships, urban forests, and the quiet moments where people and landscape intersect. These themes take shape in resin artworks, ornaments, and prints that bring West Coast imagery into everyday life. Each piece is crafted with care, offering a distinctive reflection of place.

Visual artist Sheila Rae Van Delft grew up in Smithers, BC, and currently resides in Langley. She holds a bachelor of Fine Arts, Visual Arts with Distinction from Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Sheila also enjoys teaching High School Art part time and spending time painting with her grandchildren. She is primarily a landscape painter inspired by contemporary Canadian artists, but her art practice includes painting BC landscapes and wildlife on authentic locally sourced barn wood.

Between the busy work and hectic life, crochet has always been a quiet and peaceful space for me. Creating mushrooms and flowers brings me closer to nature, and I enjoy sharing my creations with others.

Greta creates nature art using preserved moss, driftwood, bark, fungi and preserved foliage. The materials have been dried and preserved so that they retain their colour and texture and can be enjoyed for many years to come and are completely maintenance free. She finds inspiration in the forests and wild places of the west coast and makes her home in beautiful Port Coquitlam, BC. Custom orders welcomed.

Dragana learned about salves, soaps and natural remedies from her grandmother, and decided to incorporate those in our lives. Slowly, we replaced chemical products with natural handmade ones. In doing so, our friends and family realized that they love them too and requested we make it available for them as well, and SoapScapes was born. We have grown from the modest beginnings of a few soap varieties and house cleaners into a company that offers more than 30 different kinds of soaps. Many other products got introduced over the years, and we are constantly experimenting with new products.

Rosie was born and raised in interior BC, but now lives in Port Moody, and works in the local film industry as a prop builder. She loves spending all day making other people's art, but on the weekends spends time unwinding in front of her sewing machine.

Using the different mediums and taking workshops she is now working on abstraction as well as landscapes. Simone continues to show her art work through various clubs and juried art shows.

Camila Szefler is a Canadian-Polish visual artist with a BFA in Illustration from ECUAD (2022) who is a current board member of EartHand Gleaners Society, a non-profit fibreshed society in Vancouver, BC. She has multidisciplinary art practice rooted in storytelling, place-based research, and community connection while working across illustration, printmaking and eco-art.

The Mimo Touch is a collaborative art practice by Azar Mokarram and Maryam Mirzaei. We have known each other since high school, when we first started experimenting with handprint art together. Around two years ago, we founded The Mimo Touch as a way to continue that shared creative practice and explore different approaches to printmaking. Our work is playful, personal, and rooted in experimentation, using handprints and other print-based techniques to create simple but expressive pieces.

Founded by designer and maker Hitomi, Thé Vert Jewellery reflects a deep appreciation for intentional design and the beauty of imperfection. As a Japanese Canadian, Hitomi draws inspiration from Japanese principles such as simplicity, balance, and wabi-sabi—embracing subtle irregularities as part of the handmade process. Every piece is made in small batches using a considered mix of materials, including polymer clay, fabric, wood, glass, semi-precious stones, and metal. Variations in texture, shape, and finish are not flaws, but a quiet reminder of the human hands behind each design.

Hi, I’m Lorraine Scott of Tiffany Exclusively Stained Glass. I have created art for over 35 years and while attending Emily Carr University of Art and Design I took a course in stained glass where I discovered I could “paint with light”. That moment 30 years ago sparked a lifelong dedication to working with glass. Over time, I have experimented with new techniques and uses for glass. Today, I create one-of-a-kind pieces, custom designed home accents and unique creations that delight and inspire. My work continues to evolve, ensuring something special to captivate each viewers imagination.

Carlee Thompson (b. 1999 Victoria, BC) is an emerging artist working as a guest on the unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations. Thompson received their BFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in 2022 and has been the recipient of Renée Van Helm + Pietro Widmer Graduation Award for Visual Arts (2022), the Jessie Allan Forsyth Memorial Scholarship (2019) and, the Clay Foundation Visual Arts Award (2018). Thompson has participated in nine group exhibitions in Canada. Carlee Thompson’s interdisciplinary practice incorporates multiple mediums, including ceramics, photography and painting. Working as a production potter, Thompson uses both wheel throwing and slip casting methods to create functional wares, emphasizing repetition and uniformity. Creating wares for clients such as Celsia Floral and Barter Design. In contrast to utilitarian design their practice explores the interaction between shape and space, investigating the physicality of objects through texture, colour and fragmentation. Connective forms, vibrant color palettes, and sharp-edged shapes, create decisive action within a visual language. These recurring motifs of materiality intersect with digital documentation to question and exaggerate contemporary experiences. Often starting from photographs taken while cycling around North America, the images are then broken down or abstracted into layers which are painted onto the surface of large fragmented vessels. Melding a painting practice to ceramics through the use of clay as canvas.

Tri-City Potters is a non-profit society founded in 2007 to encourage awareness and learning about the ceramic arts. Their membership includes those who appreciate and collect ceramic art as well as professional and recreational potters and ceramicists. They meet the third Wednesday of each month from 7 pm to 9 pm at PoMoArts. Everyone is welcome to attend, and each meeting includes an artist presentation, planned activity or a short hands-on workshop and time to socialize. Tri-City Potters Society provides member with opportunities to share their experiences with and knowledge of working in clay. They present and exchange information about ceramic art activities, promote learning, creative thinking and artistic growth.

My name is Maliheh Toobaee, and I am a ceramic artist and educator with over twenty years of experience in creating and teaching ceramics. My practice explores the relationship between form, texture, light, and craftsmanship through both functional and decorative works. Working with clay allows me to express ideas of beauty, connection, and everyday experiences. Using hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques, I create unique ceramic pieces that combine artistic expression with thoughtful design. Throughout my career, I have participated in exhibitions and artistic events while continuing to explore new forms, surfaces, and ceramic techniques.

Julia Vasileva is a Vancouver-based illustrator and picture book maker. With a background in literature, her work ranges from children's books and print work to public art and community-engaged projects. Her most recent picture books include "Lewis and Lou," which she wrote and illustrated, and "One Cosmic Rock," written by Karen Krossing.

In 2020 Maartje started in a new creative direction. She started taking watercolour studies at Shadbolt. Birds quickly became a favourite subject… but not just any birds! Thanks to her previous career as a fashion display stylist, her birds are well accessorized, sporting stylish shoes and bags. She hopes her whimsical studies are a delight.

Elizabeth takes inspiration from BC’s visual treasures—rockfaces and sunlit gardens, weathered buildings and landscapes. She chooses a painting form and medium that will interpret her feeling for the subject. Many of Elizabeth’s watercolours begin with a random pouring or underpainting, allowing the resultant values and melded colours to suggest shape and subject. She has developed her own style through research and experimentation.

I am the crafter behind Wax and Rock. I find inspiration in the things I love most - time outdoors, gardening, nature, and inviting interiors. These passions shape the forms and details of each piece. I’ve always loved coming home to a space that feels cozy and personal. The little details we surround ourselves with make a home more welcoming and reflective of the people who live there. This inspires me to create work that brings character into every space. Each piece is made in small batches, making every one unique and thoughtfully crafted to be enjoyed for years to come.

Sarah is a Port Moody fibre artist. As a Professional Engineer, she is inspired by the intersection between mathematics, colour and design.

Alison has taken classes and volunteered with the Pomo Arts ceramic program for 3 years, including training as a ceramics technician.

Christine is a Coquitlam artist working primarily in acrylics. She is an exhibiting member of the Federation of Canadian artists and an active member of the Port Moody Art Association.

She works out her light filled studio overlooking the Coast Mountains on the unceded Coast Salish Territory known as Vancouver, BC, Canada.
