In the spirit of forest fun, stop by and Bev will sketch you. In less than five minutes she will create a little line drawing that may capture your essence. Then you can dab a bit of water colour paint on the drawing, bringing it to life.
About the Artist:
You may find yourself captured in a comic-like line drawing if you frequent local parks and businesses Port Moody. Using a fountain pen, Bev sketches in Port Moody and area cafes, hiking trails, breweries, shops and community events. She uses her line drawing technique to notice detail, to remember people and their uniqueness. She has found that by drawing people, she is more likely to notice what makes them tick. Adding some rosy cheeks, some lovely yellow sunshine, or some West Coast nature, complete the quick little caricature-like sketch. Bev combines her two obsessions; sketching and music, by drawing the delightful musicians at Rocky Point Spirits and Brave Brewery Open Mic nights. There is always a surprise or two to capture there! She knows that drawing people slows her down, making her notice how special each person is. Along with providing the novelty she craves, the practise aids in respecting everyone. It’s tough to judge after spending a few minutes of sketching what you see. The joy shines through. - Bev Bakka.
