MAMALIA was conjured where opposites collide!  Where tropical monsoons meet the rocky mountains… UK born, Canadian-based Filipinx artist and JUNO nominated singer / songwriter / selectress Mamalia recalls the first time she heard a hypnotic drum rhythm, Samba to Motown, digging into her Papa's record collection obsessively for hours as a child… Soul, Funk, Jazz, & Hip-Hop filled the home and her passion for music finally turned career when she was invited to perform across the globe as a solo artist and with her award-winning band Sekoya! From New York to Milan, Berlin Fashion Week to Notting Hill Carnival, Mamalia's most recent career highlights include being invited to open for Yoko Ono's International Exhibition "Riverbed" and being a part of The Kathara Indigenous Pilipino Arts Collective's performance at MOA. She has opened and played with the likes of Erykah Badu, Maceo Parker, Tanya Tagaq, Cinematic Orchestra, Osunlade, Skratch Bastid, Del The Funky Homosapien, & Natasha Diggs to name a few...
