As part of the Art Out Side PoMoArts festival in Port Moody this summer, Illust generously sponsored an international AR exhibition around the Shoreline Trail.
Illust invited curators Rakkaus Art & Design, 23 Artists, and JBR Visuals, to gather artists from around the world and across Canada to create one of the largest crowd-sourced AR art walks to date.
The call to artists had a unique component where the illust creators offered an educational series, showing artists how to use the platform to transform and create for this call.
Using Illust’s intuitive AR tools, artists geo-tethered their work to locations along the Port Moody shoreline, transforming the city into a dynamic digital art gallery.
The activation continues to be available to Port Moody residents via Illust’s AR discovery app — a custom “mapplication” that lets users explore and experience the artworks through an interactive map throughout the Art Out Side festival July 21-Aug 10th 2025.
Here’s what to expect:
- Artist Demos: Selected creators will showcase the AR works they submitted for the Balanced Forces activation.
- Community Reflections: Organizers will share the impact the exhibition has had on the local community.
