The Port Moody Arts Centre Society is a not-for-profit community arts organization located in the City of the Arts. We create inclusive and meaningful art experiences through education, exhibitions, and outreach. Run primarily by artists and supported by a vibrant network of volunteers, donors, and community partners, we offer a wide range of visual, performing, ceramic, and media arts programming for people of all ages and skill levels.

The Role: Creative Arts Instructor
As a Creative Arts Instructor, you’ll plan and implement a wide array of visual arts classes and workshops. You’ll lead a diverse group of participants of all ages (kids, teens, and adults) in beginner focused lessons in various mediums like Mixed Media, Air-Dry Clay, Jewelry Making, and more!
This is a role for a leader and teacher—someone who enjoys teaching groups of all ages, creating welcoming environments, being organized, and having fun
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Administration
- Design, plan, and deliver engaging visual arts programs that reflect PoMoArts’ values and inspire creativity.
- Share professional knowledge and techniques, providing constructive feedback to support student learning and artistic growth.
- Prepare class materials, maintain an organized and safe studio, and ensure the proper care and use of tools and equipment.
- Follow safety procedures at all times and contribute ideas to improve practices where needed.
- Provide program details and supply needs in advance, and submit expenses according to organizational guidelines.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that keeps students motivated and engaged.
- Communicate respectfully and proactively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a smooth program experience.
- Be punctual, prepared, and professional in all teaching sessions and related commitments.

- An enthusiastic leader who enjoys working with students of all ages and backgrounds
- Highly organized with strong time management skills
- Passionate about the visual arts, and encouraging participation
Qualifications
- Working towards a university degree in Fine Arts or another degree with equivalent training and experience
- Excellent ability to design, plan, and deliver Visual Arts programs
- Proven experience in creating and teaching in various visual and crafting artforms, showcasing a strong artistic portfolio and successful student outcomes
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a teaching position or equivalent experience
- Strong ability to communicate positively with students, parents, and staff
- Demonstrated ability to be responsible and punctual
- Enthusiastic about arts and teaching, with a teaching approach that encourages participation and student engagement
- Demonstrated ability to work with participants of all ages, social, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
- ·Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector check required prior to starting work
Assets
- Working knowledge of a second language
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (level 1 or equivalent)
