Sarah McIntyre is a textile artist, originally from New Brunswick, where she did her training at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, resulting in a Bachelor of Applied Arts - Textiles from the University of New Brunswick. For 12 years, she ran a studio from her home and participated in juried shows and exhibitions with the NB Craft Council. Her work has sold in galleries across the Maritimes and in Toronto at the Textile Museum of Canada. Commissioned work has gone around the world.
Since moving to BC five years ago, and setting up home in Burnaby, her work has been sold and exhibited at Place des Arts, Coquitlam. Working from her small Woolhouse loom, she pushes her design limits by creating works that can be used in a home. Her work highlights traditional patterns while using modern colors and textures. Sarah primarily deigns and weaves pieces for the home: runners, towels, trivets, and pillows. She also has a limited run of fashion scarves each year. Her goal is to create traditional woven pieces for the modern home, with whimsy when possible. Sarah works to create pieces that are useful and unbeweaveable!
