Yandy Chau completed her BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design with a ceramic focus. Her work is about process, the interaction and cohesion between the materials. She finds interest in how materials and tools can behave. By using a different perspective to view the function of a tool, it can open up the possibilities of mark making. She often uses kitchen tools and gadgets apart of her ceramic practice. What seems like the “wrong tool” can become the perfect mark maker. It is similar to watching someone use a butter knife to tighten a screw instead of a screwdriver.
