jens trumpet 300 1Internationally-acclaimed trumpet player,Jens Lindemann, presents “Brassfire” - an epic, energized concert experience highlighting the history of trumpet music. Jens performs timeless classics from Bach and Vivaldi to Louis Armstrong and Dizzie Gillespie. With his exceptional musicianship and sensitivity, Jens explores the full emotional range of the trumpet, from lyrical haunting melodies to the blistering bravado of Maynard Ferguson, all delivered with the showmanship of his childhood hero Doc Severinsen.

Jens Lindemann is a German born Canadian trumpet soloist now based in Los Angeles, where he is a professor of trumpet at UCLA. He is the first classical brass soloist to be awarded the Order of Canada. He played in the Canadian Brass from 1996 to 2001 and continues to play at major concert venues all over the world as an orchestral soloist, with chamber groups, jazz bands, and as a master clinician.

Named "Personality of the Year 2006" by the British magazine The Brass Herald, Lindemann also hosted the 33rd International Trumpet Guild conference at the Banff Centre in June 2008. Lindemann studied at the Juilliard School of Music, McGill University, and has received an honorary doctorate from McMaster University. Among numerous distinctions, he has been a nominee for a Grammy award and a Juno Award and received the Echo Klassik in Germany. As part of Alberta's centenary celebrations in 2005, he gave a solo Command Performance for Queen Elizabeth II.

Barry Shiffman picSpecial guest performer Barry Shiffman joined The Glenn Gould School as Associate Dean and Director of Chamber Music in September 2010. He comes to The Royal Conservatory from The Banff Centre, where he has served as Director of Music Programs and Executive Director of the Banff International String Quartet Competition since 2006.

At The Banff Centre, Mr. Shiffman revitalized existing music programs and launched major new initiatives in chamber music, orchestral studies, popular music, and jazz. Some of his most dramatic achievements were in the field of new music; under his direction, the music program of The Banff Centre became one of western Canada's largest presenters of contemporary works. He increased the number of faculty residencies, attracting notable composers including John Adams, Osvaldo Golijov, Brett Dean, and Louis Andriessen. In the spring of 2009, he oversaw the coproduction of EVOLUTION, the CBCs competition for young composers, held at The Banff Centre.

He also serves as Executive Artistic Director of Vancouver's Music in the Morning Concert Society, overseeing all programming for the celebrated concert presenter.

"The Port Moody Arts Centre has put together an evening of outstanding musical entertainment, featuring some of Canada’s, and the World’s, most amazing talents… this is a night you won’t want to miss!

I know I left the last gala event wanting even more, and the Arts Centre is making it happen! Jens, Barry, Shannon and Kristian have the tremendous ability to tell stories through music, and to entertain and captivate the audience.  We are so lucky to have a show of this caliber right here in our Inlet Theatre, and it really celebrates the City of the Arts.

Join me and help raise funds for the important work of the Port Moody Arts Centre, while enjoying one of the best musical performances you experience in your lifetime."

Mike Clay, Mayor of Port Moody
