We are currently seeking Youth Volunteers between the ages of 14 and 18. Please see below for the opportunities available.
Birthday Party Assistant-As a Birthday Party Volunteer, you will assist the Instructor in the set-up and clean-up of the space plus provide assistance to the children participating as required.
Pro-D Day Camp Assistant or Spring & Summer Camp Assistant-We offer camps throughout the schoolyear on SD43 Professional Days, plus during the 2 weeks of Spring Break and the 9 weeks of Summer Break. As a Camp Assistant, you will greet the participants as they arrive, offer assistance to the instructor and participants as required, lead games during lunch hour, assist with clean-up and supervise children during after-camp hours.
Youth and Adult Volunteers
Craft Assistant for Events: Port Moody Arts Centre is makings its mark on the community through Farmer’s Markets and event booths in the Tri-Cities. We are looking for independent and reliable volunteers who can assistant children with artwork at a craft table during off-site and in-house events. If you have a talent for art and helping others, sign up for this role when filling-out your volunteer form. Candidates should be prepared to assist at off-site locations (directions will be provided), and must be prepared to work under the tent during all weather conditions.
We are looking for creative and energetic adults (19+ years) to volunteer at our events throughout the year, from gallery installations and receptions, to festivals and more!
Exhibition Installation & Exhibition Take Down-Volunteers assist the Gallery Manager with setting up and taking down the exhibition approximately every six to eight weeks according to the schedule, which is available upon request. Setting up and taking down usually takes place during the day on weekdays and can take between two to four hours over several days, depending on the size of the exhibition. You must be able to lift at least 40lbs as this can be quite strenuous work. Volunteers can expect to fill holes, sand, paint, measure and use small power tools. Training can be provided if no prior experience in gallery installations.
Gallery Opening Receptions-Gallery Openings are fun and exciting evenings where the public comes to view the new exhibits for the first time, often in the presence of the exhibiting artists. Those scheduled for Gallery Openings Receptions can expect to greet visitors at the door, plate and set out food and beverages, and tend to the bar. Those assisting with food plating will require Food Safe, and those tending the bar will require Serving It Right.
Brochure Distribution-Brochure Distribution Volunteers help to promote and educate citizens about the Arts Centre, by placing brochures, rack cards etc., in Public Libraries, Recreation Centers and various public spaces. Hours are flexible.
Special Events and Fundraisers- Reception and event volunteers help to set-up, serve food and drinks and greet guests. Volunteers must be able to work independently and with limited supervision. Food Safe and Serving It Right are assets but not required. We have a variety of events coming up throughout the year including Open Houses, Culture Days, Girls Night Out, and Youth Arts Festival.
